President's Message
Dear Fellow Law Students and Friends,
As I begin my journey as President, I am deeply grateful and honoured to continue nurturing the Australia Singapore Law Students’ Society into its fourth year. Alongside Ashley Tung as Internal Affairs Vice President, Anoushka Thanikesh as External Affairs Vice President, and Joyee Goh as Publications Director, we are excited to continue building on the foundation laid by previous Executive Committees, and to deepen the connections between law students, professionals, and educators from Australia and Singapore.
It’s a bittersweet moment as we see the departure of many founding Executive Committee members who have been with the society since its inception. Their guidance and dedication have been invaluable, and I owe a deep sense of gratitude to them for all they’ve taught me. While many of them are now moving forward in their legal careers, we take pride in knowing that our alumni network is expanding, a testament to the society’s growth and the lasting bonds we have formed. It’s exciting to witness new faces joining us this year, a reflection of the society’s strength, longevity, and the baton being passed to a new generation of students.
Looking ahead, our vision for this term is to embrace even greater diversity. While we are united by our shared study of law, each of us brings a set of unique perspectives, skills and experiences. It is this diversity that strengthens and makes our society whole. We tread different paths, yet contribute to a united vision.
We aim to strike a balance between tradition and innovation. We strive to continue organising events that have become frequent activities of the AUSLSS, while also introducing new initiatives that expand our platform to accommodate a wider interest for law students exploring non-traditional pathways in the legal industry. Our goal is to ensure that our society remains an inclusive space for everyone, regardless of their background or experiences. Law touches every aspect of society, and thus it is something everyone should have the opportunity to engage with.
We are excited to continue our collaborative efforts with the organisations and individuals we have previously partnered with. Building on the foundation of such relationships, we are deeply committed to nurturing these connections and advancing our shared goals. At the same time, we are enthusiastic about the opportunity to forge new partnerships and explore fresh avenues for collaboration. On that note, we warmly invite anyone interested to reach out and connect with us. We look forward to collaborating and creating new opportunities for mutual growth and success.
On behalf of the 24/25 Executive Committee, I'd like to extend my sincere appreciation for your unwavering and continued support. We look forward to another exciting term ahead, filled with growth, learning and meaningful bonds.
Warmest wishes,
Nurshamin Wan
President of the 4th Executive Committee
